Do you remember when you were a child and life's smallest moments could engage and delight you in the most enchanting way? I believed in magic, angels, and fairies when I was a small girl, and I still do. I remember playing in the yard in summer evenings and pretending that fire flies were fairies. I would make a wish on them, and most times my wish came true. Now as a small child my wishes were the type of "ice cream for dessert or extended bedtime", but they did come true. This is one of my favorite childhood memories because it confirmed to me that magic does exist.
By magic, I don't mean childish magical thinking or that all of sudden we will be walking on water or changing water into wine, although magic and miracles are closely related. Remember when Glenda, the good witch from "The Wizard of Oz," said to Dorothy: "You had the power all along, my dear." That is real magic - the power in us.
So, what is a Magical Life? It is where, despite all of your struggles, lessons, challenges and moments of darkness you still find joy and magic in life and the moment. Where we approach life with a sense of wonderment, curiosity, enchantment, delight and the playfulness and creativity of a child. Usually, magic comes from the simplest of things and is free. We may be in awe of a moment of synchronicity that the universe creates for us. We see beauty in every living thing and this brings us great delight - a baby smiling, a puppy playing or a lovely flower that brings us joy. We experience more heavenly energies in our daily lives.
Magic is also another word for using intention and vision and, when aligned to the powers of God and the universe, we co-create something wonderful in our life. We are able to manifest for the highest good and others benefit from what we co-create.
Our power is operating when we use our gifts of spirit, intuition and our ability to manifest only for the highest good with integrity.
I am not living in crazy town this week. Some of the most important spiritual leaders and scientists of modern day believe in magic and miracles.
Einstein said "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." One of his most famous quotes was: "The most important question a person can ask is, Is the universe a friendly place?" If you believe the universe is friendly vs. hostile, it will respond to you in this way. It will conspire with you and support you in what you wish to create. The universe wants to work in your favor and will help to correct your path when you veer off course. Emerson stated, "Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen."
Thich Nhat Hahn is a Zen master, global spiritual leader, poet and peace activist, revered around the world for his powerful teachings and bestselling writings on mindfulness and peace. He says that miracles happen everywhere. He states: "Around us, life bursts with miracles. If we live in awareness, it is easy to see miracles everywhere." The key here is living in the present moment.
When, in contrast to being non-aware and having it go fleeting by unnoticed, we are present, we are able to realize that a little miracle just happened in our life. An important part of magic is seeing and appreciating the beauty in people and in the simplest things.
One of my favorite books is "Real Magic - Creating Miracles in Everyday Life" by Dr. Wayne Dyer. In this book he outlines how you can invite magic and miracles into your life every day by holding this intention. Dr. Wayne Dyer says, "I am realistic. I expect miracles." As gratitude acts like a magnet, when you do have a magical moment remember to thank the Divine in order to attract more magic, miracles and abundance to you.
Invite your inner magical child to appreciate it for he or she will feel a deep sense of awe and wonderment around this creation. Higher octave emotions are also magnetic and allow more to flow to us.
Dyer embellishes this thought by stating, "Once you believe in yourself and see your soul as divine and precious, you'll automatically be converted to a being that can create miracles." This will be enhanced for us when we stay connected with Source and come from the I AM presence acknowledging that God is within us.
Dr. Dyer outlined seven beliefs for Developing Real Magic:
There is an invisible but powerful life force inside
Your thoughts are something you can control, and they originate with you
There are no limits.
Your life has purpose
You overcome your weakness by leaving it behind
When you examine what you believe to be impossible, you can then change your beliefs.
You can go beyond logic … See it because you believe it!
Mahatma Gandhi noted "There is a force in the universe which, if we permit, will flow through us and produce miraculous results." It is important for us to be open and allow this energy to move through us without great expectation around it. Trust in it and have faith and hope. Don't try to control it; let the universe work its magic. You will have many more eureka moments of synchronicity and outcomes that you did not think were possible. Remember that the universe can create infinite possibilities through your intentions.
You are a magical being and may not realize this. Kahlil Gibran, author of The Prophet states, "The appearance of things changes according to your emotions and thus we see the magic in them, while the magic and beauty are really in ourselves." When you own this, you will see magic and miracles wherever you go. Through the law of attraction and the practice of gratitude you will only attract more magic.
When life gets tough it can be all too easy to give up on the wonder and magic we once felt as young children. As adults we often get caught up in solving problems, putting out the proverbial fire, and simply surviving from one moment to the next, all the while forgetting that the magic of life ever existed.
While there may not be a silver bullet, special formula, or one-size-fits-all approach to create the 'happily ever after' that so many are searching for, there are a few things you can do to unlock the magic of life starting right now no matter how busy you are.
This week I am giving you 11 very simple ways you can bring magic into your own life without a wand or a strait jacket.
Know that it exists. As a child there was no doubt in your mind that magic and miracles existed. You likely immersed yourself in a world of wonder and amazing possibilities where you knew you could be, have, or do anything your heart desired. Everything felt like a miracle, from the way planes flew in the sky to going on an adventure through the woods, yet as an adult you've somehow forgotten. Step into the knowing that magic exists for you no matter how old you are, and I guarantee you will begin seeing, feeling, and experiencing the magic again instantly.
Be present. Have you ever watched a child so immersed in their current activity they have no sense of past or future? If so, you may have also noticed the light shining from their very soul as they bring all of their awareness into the present moment. As adults, we tend to split our attention by worrying about the past or the future while completely missing the magic of the moment. If this is the case for you, it's time to reconnect with the present moment and take in the amazing experiences right in front of you.
Infuse your life with love. Love in and of itself is a magical feeling. Whether it is expressed in romance, friendships, or familial connections, love is what connects us all. Give love. Share love. Speak love. And if you aren't already doing what you love, go do it now! Love is the highest vibration you can feel and it is from that place amazing opportunities and experiences emerge. Love is magic.
Own and honor your truth. You are a beautiful mixture of cells, soul, and energy combined with your many experiences from this lifetime and beyond. It's time for you to stand in your place of power and own your truth. What do you stand for? What do you believe in? What is the vision you hold for your life? Embrace it. Cultivate it. Be proud and be you! After all, standing in your truth is the elixir of living a magical life.
Look for miracles. Miracles, both large and small are happening around you every single day. Unfortunately, most people tend to overlook or ignore them altogether. Want more magic in your life? Look for it! Recognize the magic, miracles, and blessings that surround you and you can be sure that by doing so, they will multiply tenfold.
Cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Gratitude is the foundation upon which magic is born. It makes even the tiniest morsels of joy worth celebrating and makes you a magnet to attract more incredible experiences and opportunities to you. Never underestimate the power of a simple 'thank you' to another person or to the Universe. It makes all the difference in the world.
Reconnect with your inner child and get a little curious. Life is too short to stay stuck in the mundane responsibilities of life all the time. If you are feeling a bit uninspired and stuck, it might be time for you to shake things up and get a little curious about life again. Ask questions, learn a new hobby, join a meet-up group and get involved in your community. Travel to new places and try new foods or simply take a stroll through your local library to learn about a topic you've always been curious about. Seeing the world through the eyes of a child is often enough to put the spark back in your seemingly dull life.
Play! There is nothing more magical than letting loose and having a bit of fun. Life is an adventure that is meant to be enjoyed, so grab your bucket list and start ticking things off and if you don't have one, make one! Give yourself permission to have fun every single day and watch how it shifts every area of your life for the better.
Find your high vibe tribe. Surrounding yourself with other high vibe people is priceless when it comes to cultivating magic in your life. When like-minded souls connect there is an energy and vibration that is palpable and contagious. It not only changes lives, but it has the power to change the world. Join a mastermind, workshop, or better yet start one! Building a community of people who can share, connect, and celebrate one another creates a magnificent ripple effect across the world.
Don't forget to dream. It's easy to get so wrapped up in life's day-to- day responsibilities that you forget about your own dreams and aspirations. When was the last time you allowed yourself to really dream of the life or career you desire? What is your soul craving in this very moment? Give yourself permission to dream again and then set a plan to make your dreams a reality. There is nothing more magical than living the life your soul craves.
Lean into the unknown. For some people (myself included) not knowing what lies ahead can often be a scary thing and that is usually because we have come to expect the worst. When you shift your focus to expect the best in life, there is no need to fear the unknown. Instead, you can lean into it with the same sense of wonder and magic you had as a child. The world is full of amazing opportunities and when you expect the best, that's exactly what you receive.
